WHAT IS INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN'S DAY (COCUK BAYRAMI)?
Children's Day was originated as the National Sovereignty Day of Turkey in 1920. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founding father of modern Turkey, dedicated April 23rd as the official Children's Holiday. Children show their appreciation and celebrate their special day with their own parades, dance, music performances and entertainment throughout the day. In 1979, UNICEF recognized the Children's Holiday and it has since been celebrated as an International Children's Day.
Please come join us at the International Children's Day Celebration on Sunday April 25 at Blackburn Park. There will be food, fun, music, and games. Program starts at 2:00 pm.
